Why isn't *this* getting any substantial discussion?

Honestly, I don't know how much more of this our country can stand.

It's a total mystery to me why "Mr. Independence" went lockstep in voting along with the Oxley Resolution last week. All his advertising talks about his being independent, but when it comes to sucking up to Bush, he's 100% the president's lackey.

The Oxley resolution, HR 895, is yet another propaganda piece that has elbowed aside our democracy in favor of emotional ranting. This is the congressional resolution that condemned the press for undermining the 'war on terra' by actually reporting on something (for a change).

The story that prompted this latest GOP tantrum was the NYT story that talked about the president spying on people's financial activity, which even John Stewart demonstrated was no story at all.

So, Sweeney continues to support our ongoing insanity. Since Bush has come in, we have devolved into having a shouting match about whether it's ok to torture people, to jail Americans indefinitely on the word of the president, to spy on Americans, and to sift through their financial records.

I don't care who you are, I don't think you can be genuinely happy with your country having reached this point.

Meanwhile, Sweeney slavishly supports the administration every step of the way. There's no other way to describe it.

Too bad it's not being talked about in the SCLM.
